A Couple of Scrap Layouts

Hi There,

I have actually done some scrapbooking in the last week and managed to get 3 layouts done.  I used 3 of Kaisercrafts February ranges which you can get from Scrapbooks from the Heart now.

This range is fantastic.  It has brincks and weathered planks, some look painted, there is sand and rocks.  I love this range.  So Our New Home isn't so new now, it's 3 years old but I have been waiting for the right paper to come along.  The picket fence is chipboard and it's from Twiddlebitz that I painted with white crackle paint about 3 years ago, thats how long I've been waiting for that perfect piece of paper.  And I cut the tree out on the cricut off the Serenade cartridge.

This next layout is the view from our hotel room on the third floor at the Shangri-la Rasa Ria Resort in Kota Kinabalu.  We went on a family holiday there last November.  We stayed for 3 days in Kuala Lumpur on the way there.  We had a great time and the kids loved going on a plane for the first time too.

The black cardstock pulls out and has journalling on it.  It rained everyday from about 4pm until through the night.  But it was a nice change from the humidity and we got to do lots of swimming during the day.

And lastly, this photo is of the house my Grandfather grew up in when he was a little boy.  I've had this photo for a while too.

Thats it for today.   All of these papers along with their full ranges are available at Scrapbooks from the Heart now so pop in and grab a few.

Just 2 Scrap Pages to Share

Just a quick short post to share a couple of scrap pages I did for samples at work (Scrapbooks from the Heart here in Perth, Western Australia) the other day.

The first one is using the new Bo Bunny - Apple Cider range.  I absolutely loved this range when I first saw it, I LOVE the colours.  It does have the words 'fall' on it and has pumpkins for halloween, I just covered those bits up as we are now in Spring in Australia and we call it Autumn, which falls from March until the end of May for us.  And we don't really celebrate Halloween here either.  But still, the papers are fantastic and like I said, I loved the colours

The photo was taken with my phone, so it's not that great.

The next layout is from the new Simple Stories Summer Fresh range.  This range has lots of really nice patterned papers too.

Mucking Around with the Kids

A couple of days ago, Luke came and asked if I could take some photos of him and I have to say, I jumped at the chance, because lately, he has been going through the ‘I don’t want my photo taken’ and ‘don’t take photos of me’.  So I grabbed the camera and took some photos.

Here are a couple that we came out with

And then when Chloe came home from school, it was her turn and Luke took this photo of the 2 of us

Not too bad a shot for little hands using a big camera!

I Finished an Assignment, So I scrapped

I was given some of the new Timeless paper from one of Kaisercrafts new May ranges by Nicole at Scrapbooks from the Heart, where I work.  I knew straight away which photos I wanted to put on this paper.  They are of my Grandfather when he was in the Navy, in the war.  The bottom photo was taken in 1942 and he is standing in a bomb crater.

I started this page at work the other day but didn’t get to finish it.  I wouldn’t allow myself to do anything creative until I had finished an assignment as I have been putting them off and telling myself they were ‘too hard’.  But today while both kids were at school, I sat and did it.  No noise, no distractions, just me and the books.

As soon as I had finished I grabbed this page and finished it while I still had the ideas in my head.  I have cut the anchor out on the Cricut from the ‘Pack Your Bags’ cartridge and then crackle painted it and finished it off with a bit of gold rub n buff.

I loved putting this page together.  I have some things from the other 2 May ranges for Kaisercraft to play with, so let’s hope they go together as easily as this one.

Back from holidays

Hi there,

I hope you have had a great Christmas and New Year and that the kids are enjoying the holidays.

We have just come back from nearly 2 weeks of camping down at the beautiful Bremer Bay.  It is right on the coast and we just love it there.  We try to get there at least once a year, but last year we just didn't make it, so it was great to get there.

We spent a lot of time relaxing, which we needed after the year we had last year, catching up with friends we hadn't seen for a while, going to the beach, I think we went to a different beach each day and I even got in the freezing water and swam too!  We went fishing and for a few drives down tracks to beaches.  We all had a fantastic time.  Brad managed to catch a stingray that took 40 minutes for him and his mate to reel in and they had to take turns!!  They just cut the line and let it wash back in to the water, they weren't going anywhere near it.  If I can get the photo onto the computer, I'll post it for you.

Brad bought me a new lens for my camera for Christmas, so I got to have a play with it whilst we were away.

I took this shot at Dillon Bay, where we were fishing one day.

I love photos of the ocean splashing against the rocks.

Well thats it for now, have to feed the kids!

Thanks for stopping by.

A Post.....finally

Well hello there.  Sorry I have been away for quite some time, but we have had a lot of family illness over the last 6 months and I have been studying trying to get my course finished and well, life in general and I just haven't had time to do anything.

I am nearly finished my course, I just have 3 assignments and 7 days of Prac to go and I will be finished and hopefully a qualified Education Assistant.  Yayyy, something to cross off my bucket list.

But I thought I would just come on and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year.  I know we are hoping for a much better 2012.

I have been doing a little bit of scrapping and card making over the last month or 2.  Working at Scrapbooks from the Heart during the week seems to have helped me find my inspiration again.

This is a layout I did using one of this months Kaisercraft - Sweet Nothings range.  This photo is of my Great Grandparents on their Honeymoon.  I cut out the flowers and birdcage from another piece of the same paper and used foam tape and scrap dots to raise it up.

Well, hopefully I will be able to keep up with my blog a bit more next year.

Merry Christmas

Danielle
