Look Mum - NO Training Wheels

Chloe has been asking her Dad for weeks to take the other training wheel off her bike because she says she wants to ride her bike without them. We really didn't think she was ready or had her balance properly to have the second one taken off as she was leaning to the side with the training wheel on. But every day she would come home from school and go out the back and get on her bike and practice riding on just the 2 wheels trying so hard not to lean on the training wheel.

So on Mother's Day afternoon, Brad she finally talked Brad into taking it off and when he did he explained to her that if she leant to the side she would fall off and that if she didn't put her foot down when she was putting her brakes on, she would fall off.

Much to our shock, she got on the bike and took off down the road like a speed racer. We couldn't believe it, our jaws both hit the ground and we looked at each other and said "what just happened? How did she do that?" It was like she had been riding on 2 wheels for ever. And she did so well. She didn't fall off once. She had a great time hooning up and down our street and then slamming her brakes on to do burn outs, I think her back tyre is now a bit bald from it all..lol But she had so much fun. And I just had to share the photos.

I just love the look on her face, she looks so free and happy.

And now, a week after she finally got her training wheels off, the seat on her bike has completely broken off and she can no longer ride her bike. She was so upset and we had tears for quite a while about no bike to ride that we had to tell her that she is getting a new one for her birthday in 5 weeks. She has requested a big Purple bike (purple is her favourite colour). So lucky I have a big purple bike with Tinkerbell on put away for her. We are trying really hard to get her to hang on until her Birthday, but I don't like our chances. So we will see.
Well, that is it for me. Two posts in one day...
Thanks for looking.

Mother's Day Cards & Gift Card Holder

Hi there,

Sorry for my slackness with my blogging lately, I have just been doing other things. I have been getting organised to go away on my Scrapbooking Retreat next weekend down south. I'm so looking forward to it, but I have been trying to organise which papers and photos and things I need to take with me to scrap and play with and t's just soooo hard to choose!!

Anyway, I thought I would share the Mother's Day cards I made for my Mum and Mother in Law. I made one and like it so much I made another one, so they both got the same card this year. Lucky they don't see each other for Mother's Day..lol

So here they are

I have used some red cardstock, new October Afternoon Paper: Thrift Shop - Needs Paint for the background and then the reverse side for the middle of the circle. I cut the scalloped circle and plain circle using my Nestabilities (I sooo love these) and then used Tiny Chocolate Adorn it Mini Alphas and some red canvas type ribbon I had in my stash. Sorry, my photos aren't too great, I'm still learning how to get them right!!

And then because my Mother in Law lives in Albany, we decided to get her a gift card so she could buy some new slippers or a good book for winter. So I made this Gift Card Holder to put her card into. I got the instructions from the My2Angels website under Resources and then under Tutorials.

This was just so quick and easy to make, I loved making it.
I have used October Afternoon - Thrift Shop - Collectors Item Paper and some blue cardstock for the Butterfly I cut out using my Sizzix Butterfly #12 die and then run it through the Cuttlebug using the Divine Swirls Embossing Folder and then sprayed it with Pearl Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and then embellished with Kaisercraft Silver Rhinestones. I also inked around the edges of the front of with pinecone ink. I was very very happy with how this turned out, I wanted to keep it for myself!! lol
Ok, so I am off now to do some more organising for my weekend away or I might even do some scrapping today. Brad is away tonight, so I am hoping to get something done.
Thanks for looking and have a great day

2 More Scrap Challenges

I am back with 2 more layouts that I did for 2 other challenges over at Challenge Heaven 2 weeks ago and I am only just getting around to loading them onto here now. I had heaps of fun doing these challenges and it helped to get my inspiration back again. They have about 7 more challenges up for this month, so I am going to give some of them a go too.
So, here is the first one

This challenge was to 'scraplift' someone else's layout that was in the gallery on the Challenge Heaven website. Here is the link to the layout I scraplifted http://challengeheaven.ning.com/photo/u-r-crazy-feb-word-challenge?context=latest.
For this layout I used some Blue Bazzill Bling as the base and the patterned papers are Animal Stackers from 3 Bugs in a Rug (I just love that range), Kaisercraft Rhinestone circles, Adorn It mini Alphas and the Mickey font on the Cricket which I then embossed in the Cuttlebug with the Forest Branches embossing folder.
And the next challenge was to use Chocolate Brown with pale pink, pale green or pale blue. And of course, I chose the pink. I love pink and brown together at them moment.
So here it is

For this one I have used a Brown Bazzill, patterned papers are Kaisercraft Child's Play range. Kaisercraft Fancy Floral Rub Ons, Kaiser Basics Dark Pink Rhinestones, Prima e-line flowers that I glimmer misted with Pearl, Making Memories Pink Glitter lettering, Adorn it mini alphas and a Sizzix Butterfly #12 Die which I cut out in brown card stock and then in pink card stock and run it through the cuttlebug with the Goochie Script embossing folder and then gave them a coating with some pink pearl chalk.
I LOVED doing this layout and I think I might just do the Choc brown with blue and one green aswell.
Well I'm off now to get started on some Mother's Day cards and maybe one or two of those challenges.

Hope everyone has a great week and thanks for looking

Danielle
