Scrapbooking

Hi there,

I am still here.  I have been a bit slack with my blogging for a while, but I have been studying and Luke had 3 weeks of swimming lessons every day and other things have just come up.  But I am here now.

I managed to go to a scrapping day with some friends on Saturday and had a great time.  Was nice to just sit and chat and scrap and stare into space on occasions!! lol

I managed to get a few pages done and a birthday card.  I haven't loaded the birthday card onto the computer as yet, so I will share that once I get it loaded as it's on the other camera.

This first layout is of my Nan when she was a nurse in the Army in the War.  She was only about 21 - 22 years old.  She has had this photo in a frame on top of a bookshelf since I was a little kid and I have always admired it and as I got older, I really wanted  a copy of it.  Now I have one, thanks to my Uncle in Melbourne who has kindly burnt a lot of old family photos onto discs for me to print out and scrap so I can put their stories and history for my kids when they get older.

The papers are My Minds Eye - Union Square - Beautiful Day 'Journey' Glittered Paper and Moments, Green Tara rosette flowers, all from Scraptique.  Adorn it mini alphas, muslin fabric from spotlight and the Fob Watch stamp is from a really great stamp set from Delish Designs that I got from Scrapbooks from the Heart the other day, there are heaps of stamps in there.

This next layout of Chloe is a photo a I took at the park in 'raw image'.  I was playing around with some settings on my new camera and then did a little bit of editing at home.  I really like how it's turned out.

The crystal butterfly on the flower is a Green Tara crystal.  Isn't it pretty.  I have had it for a while because I didn't want to use it, I just wanted to look at it all the time, but I finally decided to use it.  I have used a blue American Crafts Cardstock and the patterned paper is from the Imaginisce - Enchanted range and is the Fairy Trails page.  A Martha Stewart Large Monarch Butterfly punch and a Dusty Attic Decorative Frame set that I sprayed with Suede Glimmer Mist.  And a bit of stitching to finish it off.

Here is a close up of the crystal butterfly.

This is my Mum when she was about 2 and a half.  I just love this photo, it's so cute.  There is a story behind the cordoroy dress she is wearing.  Aparently, each time it's colour faded, my Nan would get it dyed again, sometimes in a different colour, sometimes the same colour.  My Aunty had one too and they both say that they had these dresses for ages....

For this one I have used My Minds Eye - Lost and Found - Madison Avenue range - Happily Ever After.  I sanded the edges of the photo.  Adorn it mini alphas and Kaisercraft mini alphas.  Maya Road flower ribbon and Collections acetate butterflies.  Not much to this one.

And lastly, another photo that I have always looked at and admired on my Grandparents bookshelf, is this photo of my Grandfather (in the front) sitting on a bomb shell in Japan in the war when they went to sign the Peace Treaty.  And thank you to my Uncle in Melbourne for putting this picture onto the disc for me.

For this layout, I used My Minds Eye again....  Lost and Found - Portobello Road range - Buddies flannel paper, Family First Class and Boy papers.  Dusty attic Decorative Frame set, the larger one of the 3 and inked it with a cream ink and then a bit of pinecone ink on top.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed looking at my layouts, I enjoyed making them.

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with a photo of the birthday card I made too.

Thanks for looking.

Danielle

  3. Thanks Jules. I need to go and do some lessons to learn how to use my camera properly, but I am just learning by playing and reading what other people do.
